Little Known Chinese Herb Compound Kills 12,000 Cancer Cells for Every 1 Normal Cell | Earth. We are one:

Cancer doesn’t seem to be waning away from the human population, it seems to be ever more rampant, manifesting in the life of at least someone each of us knows.  As with all physical health distortions, cancer has its root cause in the spiritual and emotional aspect of the self, materializing from distorted ideas, beliefs, feelings, and habits which eventually shape behaviors and can even affect the environments we choose to put ourselves in.
While cancer, as well as all ailments, can be treated from the template or energetic level, there is also great merit to treating ailments both from the physical biological aspect and from the non-material aspect.  What we are collectively seeing more and more is that the beloved plant kingdom, one of our most generous and powerful allies as humans, hold seemingly endless cures for the physical body dis-ease we find ourselves in, and this is every bit as true for cancer.  A little known herb called Wormwood- which has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries, contains a compound called artemesinin which has been shown in clinical settings to selectively kill cancer cells, intelligently leaving the majority of normal cells unharmed.
According to studies published in Life Sciences, Cancer Letters and Anticancer Drugs the compound found in Wormwood kills 12,000 cancer cells for every 1 normal cell.  In clinical research, Dr. Lai and his team have developed a method for updating that compound in order to make it more potent than how it is naturally found in the plant.  They are of course, going to patent this and turn it into a pharmaceutical.  The idea is that after being tested for safety, the compound could be a more effective and less damaging alternative to chemotherapy.  The more scientists learn about chemotherapy, the more it becomes understood that in many ways, chemotherapy can do more harm to the person than good, as chemotherapy drugs are not intelligent enough to differentiate between cancer cells and normal cells.  So it seems that chemotherapy radiation essentially just kills your body in an effort to kill the cancer cells in your body and hopes that once enough cancer cells are dead your body can recover without the cancer cells recovering…how does this make sense?
Artemesinin sounds like an exciting development, however what would be more interesting and exciting than the pharmaceutical companies getting a patent on it and owning it so that money is the only way to get it, would be if the knowledge of how to use this plant in its natural state could be disseminated to the people. Can I get a amen?  According to the researchers, it will be several years before safety studies will even begin. Until that time, herbalists, where you at?  There must be a way to utilize the potent medicine this offers without a prescription slip.
Henry Lai and a team of researches at Washington State University have synthesized the compound that they found in Wormwood and Lai explains the potency of it saying, “By itself, artemisinin is about 100 times more selective in killing cancer cells as opposed to normal cells. Artemisinin is 34,000 times more potent in killing the cancer cells as opposed to their normal cousins. So the tagging process appears to have greatly increased the potency of artemisinin’s cancer-killing properties.”
The compound, which is now licensed to Holley Pharmaceuticals (why does this feel like some Monsanto style business?) and Lai goes on to say,
We call it a Trojan horse because the cancer cell recognizes transferrin as a natural, harmless protein. So the cell picks up the compound without knowing that a bomb (artemisinin) is hidden inside.” says, “The compound is currently being licensed by the University of Washington to Artemisia Biomedical Inc., a company that Lai, Sasaki and Narendra Singh, UW associate professor of bioengineering, founded in Newcastle, Washington for development and commercialization. Human trials are at least several years away. Artemisinin is readily available, Sasaki said, and he hopes their compound can eventually be cheaply manufactured to help cancer patients in developing countries.” (0)
According to the abstract, “Artemisinin reacts with iron to form free radicals that kill cells. Since cancer cells uptake relatively larger amounts of iron than normal cells, they are more susceptible to the toxic effect of artemisinin. In previous research, we have shown that artemisinin is more drawn to cancer cells than to normal cells. In the present research, we covalently attached artemisinin to the iron-carying plasma glycoprotein transferrin.Transferrin is transported into the cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis and cancer cells express significantly more transferrin receptors on their cell surface and endocytose more transferrin than normal cells. Thus, we hypothesize that by tagging artemisinin to transferrin, both iron and artemisinin would be transported into cancer cells in one package. Once inside a cell, iron is released and can readily react with artemisinin close by tagged to the transferrin. This would enhance the toxicity and selectivity of artemisinin towards cancer cells. We found that holotransferrin-tagged artemisinin, when compared with artemisinin, was very potent and selective in killing cancer cells. Thus, this ‘tagged-compound’ could potentially be developed into an effective chemotherapeutic agent for cancer treatment.” (1)
Another abstract reads, “Our results demonstrate that the artemisinin disruption of E2F1 transcription factor expression mediates the cell cycle arrest of human breast cancer cells and represents a critical transcriptional pathway by which artemisinin controls human reproductive cancer cell growth.” (2)
Apparently aremesinin is already approved for the treatment of malaria as it is so effective.  Hopefully the future will see this compound released freely and with information to the people who need it, as effective alternatives to chemotherapy and radiation are sorely needed.
