See you there!

Jack Parow
Jack Parow
8.00PM - 11.00PM

Jack Parow is the infamous dangerous romantic Afrikaans rapper from Cape Town, South Africa. Contrary to popular belief, his wild-fire success did not happen overnight. Jack started out rapping with crews from the Cape Flats and has been at it for more than 16 years.

In 2009 he released his first self-titled full length album. This album struck gold in South Africa within two weeks of its release and went platinum within a year. Since then he has headlined at major festivals in South Africa, performed in Russia, England, Dubai and toured Europe (with huge success in The Netherlands).

He has opened for rap legends Eminem and Snoop Lion when they toured South Africa.

Jack Parow’s second full length album, Eksie Ou, was released in November 2011, under his own label,
Parowphernalia. This album reached Gold status in South African sales within four months of it’s release. A highlight from Eksie Ou is that the first single, Hosh Tokolosh ft Gazelle, is the first Afrikaans song in the station’s history to reach Number 1 on South Africa’s most popular radio station 5FM’s Top 40. The title-track,
Eksie Ou, went on to become Parow’s second Number 1 on 5FM’s Top 40.

He collaborated with Die Antwoord, Dirt Nasty, Francois van Coke (Fokofpolisiekar & Van Coke Kartel), Die Heuwels Fantasties and Dawid Kramer.

Support from Willem Samuel

Willem Samuel is a comic book artist, painter, and songwriter currently
based in London away from his native South Africa. After being in various punk and indie bands since the 90s, he has now debuted his first solo EP that is a reflection on being physically and/or emotionally away from a loved one that’s appropriately titled
Langafstand (Afrikaans for Long-Distance).

Langafstand is an EP with love songs written and sung in Afrikaans, yet the core emotions can still be felt universally. These acoustic tracks aren’t the typical ones sung at coffee shops, there are some experimental elements with electric guitars, cajons, and melodicas
thrown in among other ambient instrumental voices. Willem’s musicianship can bring to mind a mix of Denison Witmer, Iron and Wine, and Bill Callahan albeit with a style on his own.
